Outdoor Activities at the Anderton Centre

Water Based Activities

All of our water based activities take place on Lower Rivington Reservoir which is over 2000m long. Our exclusive use agreement with United Utilities gives us the full benefit of this sheltered reservoir with its excellent water quality.

Paddlesports

Paddlesports at the Anderton Centre

Paddlesports is the collective name for canoeing and kayaking. We run a variety of courses, from fun, introductory sessions to British Canoe Union (BCU) awards and team development, all run by experienced BCU coaches. Canoes are open toped craft and carry one or two people, ideal for promoting team work and communication. Kayaks are closed cockpit craft that take one person. Typical introductory sessions consist of instruction in basic paddle strokes as well as games.

Windsurfing

Windsurfing at the Anderton Centre

Windsurfing is a very popular watersport - it's fast and fun! The Anderton Centre provides an ideal and safe environment and has all the equipment you need to participate in this exciting sport. All of our courses are run by experienced and fully qualified instructors.

Sailing

Sailing at the Anderton Centre

The Anderton Centre is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accredited centre. A fleet of 'Pico' sailing dinghy's are used for sessions, each carrying 1 (or 2 small) people. During an introductory session participants can expect to learn basic sailing skills and try out sailing on the reservoir. All our sailing activities are run under the guidance of RYA qualified instructors.

Improvised Rafting

Improvised raft building at the Anderton Centre

Raft building is great fun and encourages both teambuilding and leadership within your group. Using barrels and wooden poles you will make your own craft and attempt to take it across the water.

Activities can be combined and programmes tailor made to meet all your group needs.
