“The pupils benefitted massively from the experience. The pupils loved the activities and the food was excellent as usual. Back at school this morning, the pupils this morning can’t stop talking about the trip”.

= a perfect recipe for high school residentials in Lancashire‘s Lake District
Since 2009 we have offered high quality residential experiences on the shores of Rivington reservoir in central Lancashire. Our peaceful woodland setting away from it all gives young people time and space to focus on revision, GCSE PE practicals and personal development. Time away is a great investment in student releationships with peers and teaching and learning staff. We know from customer feedback to ensure we continue to improve, that the benefits of high school residentials are felt in the classroom long-term. If you have a great idea for a residential visit to our charity-run outdoor learning centre please get in touch to check availability and get a quote.
Here are a few suggestions of the benefits that many of our long-term and returning customers.
GCSE PE practical residential weekends
Our outdoor activities that count as part of the practical sessions in GCSE PE include archery, orienteering, kayaking, canoeing and climbing. We have very experienced and qualified instructors who specialise in getting the best out of students to optimise the practicial element of GCSE PE, and offer an alternative to students who aren’t members of rugby, football, hockey and cricket clubs/teams. Combine two activities (eg, orienteering and climbing) and still fit in some team-building and fun activities like raft-building and problem solving.
Maths, English and History revision residentials
Arriving Friday and departing on Saturday afternoon or Sunday after lunch, our four meeting rooms offer a quiet space to think, revise and concentrate for students who are borderline C/D and need a boost to get them that all-important C grade.
It means teachers and students giving up their weekends, evenings or free time, but throw in some once engaging outdoor activities (raft-building, archery, problem-solving or low ropes challenge) with hearty home-cooked food and everyone has an enjoyable and memorable weekend away.
Intervention residential weekends
Build resilience, work related skills, developing interpersonal skills, mock interviews, team work and problem solving.

‘Every year I bring a group of sixth form students to Bolton to take part in work experience. Since 2005 we have stayed at the Anderton Centre on a self-catering basis and we found the staff extremely approachable and helpful. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. I would recommend the Anderton Centre to any other group.’
