Course Overview

This is the most popular powerboat qualification and the course is a practical introduction to boat handling skills and provides the background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver.

By the end of the two-day course you should be capable of handling small powerboats safely and in a seaman like way. The course is 100% training with any assessment built in, which gives plenty of time for practicing manoeuvres and correcting faults.

You will learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, high and low speed manoeuvres and seamanship skills such as man-overboard recovery and anchoring

The level 2 powerboat certificates is also the pre requisite for the RYA Safety Boat Course required when acting as a escort or coach boat for fleet dinghies, windsurfers or canoes and for racing training activities. The certificate can also be used as proof of competence when applying for the inland International Certificate of Competence. (ICC).
