Dinghy Sailing Adult Level 1 – Start Sailing
The aim of this course is to build and develop your skills to a point where you are able to sail a dinghy in light to moderate winds on all points of sail. During the course you will learn how to set up the dinghy, sail up wind and down wind and have the opportunity to experience a variety of small single handed dinghies. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a nationally recognised level 1 certificate accredited by the Royal Yachting Association.
During the Start Sailing course you will cover the following:
- Basic meteorology
- Develop a variety of sailing techniques
- Learn how to launch and recover the boat
- Capsize Recovery
- Sailing Theory
- Basic Rope work
This will be covered using a variety of techniques including simulator work, practical exercises and classroom based learning. Our staff are highly experienced instructors who will endeavour to make the course an enjoyable and memorable experience.
- No previous experience is required.
- You must be over 16 to take part in this course.
The Anderton Centre will provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Additional kit you may wish to bring include:
- Swimwear & a towel
- Warm outdoor wear, hat , gloves etc
- Sun cream
- Drinks bottle / flask
- Packed lunch
- Trainers you don’t mind getting wet / wetboots
- Any medication you require
