Dinghy Sailing Youth Level 1

Book-Now-Button-PNG-PhotosThe aim of this course is to introduce you to the sport of sailing. You will develop your skills to a point where you are able to sail a dinghy in light to moderate winds on all points of sail. Upon completion of the course you will receive a nationally recognised RYA stage 1 certificate accredited by the Royal Yachting Association.

Course Content:

During the 2 day Youth  Sailing scheme level 1 course you will cover the following:

  • Learn how to launch and recover the boat
  • Steering
  • Basic sailing skills
  • parts of the boat
  • Basic Rope work
  • Collision avoidance

This will be covered using a variety of techniques including simulator work, practical exercises and classroom based learning. Our staff are highly experienced instructors who will endeavour to make the course an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Pre-course requirements:

  • No previous experience is required.
  • You must be between 8-15y to take part in this course.


The Anderton  Centre will provide wetsuits and  buoyancy aids. Additional kit you may wish to bring include:

  • Swimwear & a towel
  • Warm outdoor wear, hat , gloves etc
  • Sun cream
  • Drinks bottle / flask
  • Packed lunch
  • Trainers you don’t mind getting wet / wetboots
  • Any medication you require
