Our outdoor experts are here to help schools and youth groups develop and grow their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) provision as an excellent personal development tool for young people.  The charity that manages the Anderton Centre (Lancashire Outdoor Activities Initiative or LOAI) operates from the Anderton Centre, and is an Approved Activity Provided (AAP) for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

Bronze | Silver  | Gold

Operating from the West Pennine Moors, we can help your schools’ DofE run smoothly and safely, while upskilling your teaching and learning team with mentoring and guidance from our skilled instructors and DofE Assessors.  Bronze expeditions are typically run from the Anderton Centre in Rivington in the West Pennines; Silver awards from the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.  Get in touch to discuss Gold DofEs as we have in-house experience of Scotland, Sweden, Spain and America.

We have supported Bowdon Church expeditions every year since 2012 and they have rebooked Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions for 2016.

“Bowdon Parish Church launched its own Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award Scheme in 2012, with over 40 young people receiving their Bronze or Silver Award.  This wouldn’t have been possible without LOAI (Lancashire Outdoor Activities Initiative-Anderton Centre) holding our hands as they upskilled us on the training to provide and the patterns to run. The advantage of partnering with LOAI is that they were able to expand to meet our demand, which was so high after our first year, that in our second year we took on over 80 candidates – including the Gold Award too. Several of our volunteers are now completing recognised qualifications with LOAI so that we can now make this sustainable. We look forward to working with them for years to come”.
